Get a smoother ride, better traction, and more stopping power during turns than you'd get with traditional, ladder-pattern cables. These low-profile, lightweight cables are great for driving in light snow. Tensioners are included for a tight fit.

  • Made for passenger vehicles with limited wheel-well clearance
    • Meets SAE Class S standards
    • Works with either front- or rear-wheel-drive vehicles
  • Provides alternative to heavy, bulky snow chains
    • Low-profile rollers wrap around wire cables for a smoother ride than thick chain links
    • Perfect for keeping in your trunk "just in case" when traveling through areas requiring chains on hand
  • Includes custom, rubber tensioners to help provide a tight fit
  • Constructed of alloy steel for durability and strength

Specs:

  • Fits: 14" - 20" tires (for exact sizes, see below)
  • Quantity: 2 cable chains
  • 30-Day limited warranty

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

If you've driven in bad winter weather, then there's no doubt you've experienced the unsettling feeling of your vehicle sliding during turns or bends in the road. Conquer turns and winding country roads with these cable chains from Titan Chain. The diagonal pattern provides better traction during turns than traditional ladder patterns, and because there is always a cable in contact with the ground, it will increase your stopping power too. You won't have to worry about finding the right tensioners either - tensioners designed specifically for these cables are included, ensuring a tight fit.

If you need a little extra traction in the snow, these cables are great. But if you live somewhere where you experience heavy snow often, you'll definitely want something more heavy duty than cables. Because these cable chains are lightweight and don't take up a lot of storage space, they are also perfect for keeping in your trunk if you occasionally travel through areas that require you to have chains on hand.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Cable Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground.

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Make connections behind the tire.

2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the rear cable.

Make connections in front of the tire.

3. Around front, slide the cable at the top of your tire through the corresponding eye hook. Repeat at the bottom of the tire.

Install rubber tensioners.

4. Pull the cable as tight as you can, then clip the included rubber adjuster onto the cable in a star pattern. Make sure the hooks on the adjuster face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

We purchased these in 2023 and they worked perfectly for our snow trip to flagstaff. The customer service we received was amazing as well. Thank you.

The set of Cable Chains I bought were clearly used or returns.
The spider tighteners had use marks on them and the cables themselves had clearly been tried out, or on, and just thrown into the carry bag with the twisty-ties thrown in the bottom.
Bummed me out some, but I didn’t have time to complain at the time as I got them just in time to drive back up to Alaska.
When I got back to Alaska I sent off a review.
Y’all can do better. I believed I’d bought something new, not a retread.

2021 Mazda CX-30

The chains I ordered were out of stock but I appreciated that the website had an expected arrival date for when they were back in stock. The videos on the product page were a great addition and was the main reason why I bought from etrailer. The chains themselves arrived neatly bundled in the carrying case. During my practice install, I made the mistake of not carefully looking at the directions and struggled with putting them on but once I actually read the directions, installation was a breeze. I haven't tried them in the snow yet but I mainly bought them because where I am going requires vehicles to carry chains in the winter.

Turned my 2004 Mustang with aftermarket wheels and tires into a snow tank! Easy installation on 285/35/18 rear tires (bald Summer Street racing tires) and these tire cables will take me anywhere I want in the Montana winter!

I haven’t had to use my chains yet this winter, but after having them last year and saving me multiple times, I love the peice of mind these chains give me! DO NOT DRIVE OVER 30-45 with bad road conditions in your mustang. Keep it between 25-35 and you can get ANYWHERE with these chains. Luckily my daily commute is 2 miles each way, but they work very well. I noticed they rusted quickly but it just seemed like a surface rust. Using a towel to dry off isn’t enough, you must bring them inside to dry by the fire or they will rust in your trunk. The plastic clip felt cheap, but hasn’t broke yet. I wish they included metal clips but tese plastic ones work well. Rubber felt of good quality, and same with the chains! For about $50 I highly recommend this to every RWD car driver that must drive in snow.

2019 Subaru XV Crosstrek

Chains arrived just a few days late due to supply issues but one day prior to a Seattle snowstorm! The advice I received from etrailer was invaluable. I will be purchasing a trailer hitch for my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek next year. Way to go etrailer!

2017 Subaru Forester

I ordered these cable chains for my 2017 Subaru Forester after a poor experience with another national retailer. After ordering with etrailer, shipping was upgraded and the chains arrived in time for me to check out before heading into the mountains for some back country skiing. I haven't had to use these in adverse conditions; however, I know that if I need chains that I'm covered. Well done, etrailer.

Nissan Titan

The Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains fit my OEM tires as specifiied on eTrailer's web site. I called customer service today because my OEM tire size & the -1 tire size I plan to use for winter tires wasn't specified on the Titan Chain storage bag. About forty tire sizes were listed on the bag, so I called to be sure of the fitment for my tire sizes. The lady checked with their Titan liaison and said he assured her the chains would fit my tires; he told her that there wasn't enough room on the bag to list on the tire sizes the cable chains would fit. I later checked the fit of the cable chains on my OEM tires and they fit OK; the hardest part of mounting them was stretching the rubber tensioners. The construction of both the cable chains and carrying bag seem fine. We're having a relatively dry winter so far at Lake Tahoe, so I may not need to use them this season. If I do use them I'll update my review; four stars is as high as I'm comfortable with until I actually use them on snow or ice.

by:

I appreciate the help customer service provided and the fast shipping but the product was a bad fit for my '17 vw gti, these cables/chains are too big for my 225 40 18 tires. Luckily I didn't need chains for my trip to lake Tahoe.

by:

Tire chains are relatively easy to use, so you may not need instructions. Which is good as none whatsoever are included. Nor information re any warranty, if there is one. Neither does the link-to-pdf on etrailer's website help- it merely informs you that no information is available.

The chains seem to be complete and of good quality, and a size listing is on the outside of the included bag.

by:

Easy on, easy on, seem like a great product. Haven’t tested them on the road, but they seem durable and would have plenty of bite. And as always, the installation video and customer service from etrailer was spectacular.

by:

Ordering the tire cables was very easy. The order came exceptionally quick. I haven’t tried them yet, but I’m sure they will go on pretty easily.

by:

by:

Hello, when I first started to install the chains (cables), I thought they might be too small...But with much grunting and groaning I managed to get them on. Nice product and the fit is perfect.

by:

To be clear, I have not used the tire chains in snow yet. But etrailer's info they provided, clear communication, and speedy delivery were fantastic. I put the tire chains on using their helpful video and had zero problems despite this being my first time ever.

by:

I have not had to use the tire cables as the vehicle I bought them for is 4x4. I’m sure they will work just fine if needed

by:

Haven't used tire cables yet … but … did install one to check the fit and look. And the thing fit perfectly on my 2019 F150 with 245/70r17 tires. Even look pretty good too! I especially like that the cables can be put on as the truck sets - no need to lay them out and back over them. And the carrying bag is nice - keeps everything together and able to be stored under a seat, in the bed, or wherever. I thought about getting chains with v-bars … but didn't think I needed anything that aggressive - so the tire cables ought to do just fine in deeper snow, packed snow and maybe even on ice.

by:

The only thing better than the snow chains was the the ease of ordering. An excellent company! They have gotten me home safe in the worst storms!

The cables use harden steel rollers and a cross pattern that provide excellent traction, stopping power, and a steady ride. The Titan cable chains meet the DOT requirements in all states. Remember, always consult your owner's manual for any additional information...
